Dear clubs and members,
With this sixth edition, we look ahead to the start of the Belgian OCR competition season, which is now just around the corner.
The coming weeks promise many sporting highlights, starting with the Belgian Short Course Championship. This event marks the official kick-off of our Belgian OCR season.
We also briefly reflect on the FISO congress and the collaboration with World Obstacle and UIPM, where important steps were taken towards the further development and international positioning of our sport.
Finally, we once again highlight our sponsors and partners. Thanks to their support, we can continue strengthening our operations and offer attractive benefits to our members.
We wish all athletes the best of luck in the upcoming competitions and look forward to seeing many of you at the start line.

World Obstacle & UIPM
On March 15, an important international congress took place in Nice, organized by World Obstacle and UIPM (Modern Pentathlon). With representation from 53 countries, the required quorum was easily reached.
The day before the congress, all delegations gathered, creating a strong networking opportunity. This allowed existing collaborations—particularly with neighboring countries—to be strengthened, and new connections were established with countries such as the Czech Republic, Croatia, and Italy.
Vote on Dissolution of FISO
The congress mainly focused on a key vote: the possible dissolution of FISO with the aim of integration into UIPM.
- At least 43 out of 53 countries needed to vote in favor
- With only two abstentions, the vote was nearly unanimous
- 96.2% of countries supported integration into modern pentathlon

Situation in Belgium
The situation in Belgium remains unique. The Belgian Modern Pentathlon Federation (BMPF) is currently inactive, which means this activity will be integrated into our federation.
The documents for transferring responsibilities from BMPF to our federation are ready and will be signed by both parties early next week.
Next Steps
- Publication of updated statutes in the Belgian Official Gazette
- Name change to Belgian Modern Pentathlon & Obstacle Sports Federation
- Official communication to UIPM confirming representation of Belgian interests
- Start of recognition procedure with the BOIC
- Continued follow-up with Sport Vlaanderen (initial contacts already made)
There is still an important administrative process ahead, but the first and most crucial steps have already been taken.
We will keep you informed of further developments.
